Media In The Online Age

This blog is about the impact of the internet on: the media we consume and on our own lives, how demographics are affecting or are affected by the "online age", how business and economy is changing through technology and media advancements, how power, politics, creativity, identity and our own culture are changing, how the internet and "converged media"will affect how we live and perhaps change "old media" forever and what works / what doesn't in the online age.

Henry Jenkins once said....“Welcome to convergence culture, where old and new media collide, where grassroots and corporate media intersect, where the power of the media producer and the power of the media consumer interact in unpredictable ways”

This quote is discussing the ways that old and new media are converging together and how media producers and consumers are now almost the same thing (Prosumers).

“Convergence culture is the future, but it is taking shape now. Consumers will be more powerful within convergence culture--- but only if they recognize and use that power as both consumers and                        citizens, as full participants in our culture.”

This quote is explaining how we are moving forward into the Online Age where consumers are just as much in control as producers.
